About Functional Nutrition

Functional Nutrition is a holistic* style of nutrition that focuses on building health by restoring proper physiological functioning of the body. Seemingly unrelated signs and symptoms give clues about the underlying cause of illness or disease. When pieced together these signs and symptoms offer a full picture of the root cause(s) and the appropriate nutritional and lifestyle support necessary to restore vitality.

What a Functional Nutrition Session with Rachel looks like

During the initial 1.5 hour consult, you will have an opportunity to discuss your personal story, health history, current diet, symptoms, upsets, any lab work, along with your lifestyle and health goals. Rachel will create a personalized plan and specific recommendations for you from this session.

Once you have completed this initial session. You will be able to register for the Functional Nutrition Program which includes bi-weekly hour long visits along with ongoing support and guidance. The length of the program is dependent on your individual needs, but usually 3-6 months.

*What does Holistic Mean?

“The Whole is Greater than the Sum of its Parts”

In modern Western medicine, we tend to treat parts of a person- dividing up care and denying the interconnectedness of our bodies. Holistic means that the person as a whole is treated, with attention paid to all aspects of the human experience- biological, psychological, social, spiritual and environmental.

Who is Functional Nutrition for?

Functional nutrition is design to support you wherever you are. Some clients are simply looking to feel more energy, have improved sleep, and experience more vibrancy. Other clients are looking for support as they heal from chronic diseases like cancer (or cancer treatments), MS, or Lyme disease. Because Functional Nutrition takes into account the individual circumstances and unique situations of each client it can be a wonderfully integrated into other therapies, western or eastern.
