How much of your day do you spend somewhere other than where you actually are?
Planning the next thing. Replaying the last thing. Half present, half somewhere else entirely. It is one of the most human experiences there is, and one of the most exhausting.
At Village Wellness present moment awareness is at the heart of everything we do. And sometimes the most powerful thing we can offer is simply an invitation to pause.
So that is what this post is. A short guided journey back into your body. Back to now.
Before You Begin
Find a quiet moment if you can. Wait until you are in a safe, comfortable place to read.
When you do read, go slowly. Let your inner narrator carry you through each word rather than scanning ahead.
The Practice
Start with the body.
Allow your body to be fully supported by whatever surface you are on, a chair, a couch, the floor. Invite it to hold you all the way. As you feel that support deepen beneath you, you may notice your body begin to relax, giving up the effort of needing to hold itself up.
Your body softens. Your jaw lets go. Your diaphragm releases. Your shoulders drop. And with that, there is more space for your breath.
Let the breath breathe itself.
As your breath finds more space, it begins to deepen and slow on its own. You feel the gentle, effortless expansion and contraction. Your whole self breathing, gently expanding and contracting.
You do not need to control it. Just give it permission.
Awaken to your listening.
As you continue to settle, begin to notice sound. Not any specific sound, just a soft, wide, open listening. No effort. No strain. Just receiving whatever is present in this moment.
Let your eyes soften.
Even the act of reading begins to blur at the edges. So take a break. Put the words down for a moment and lean into your own direct experience.

And here you are. Just here. Just this.
No past pulling at you. No future waiting for you. Just the quiet hum of being alive in this body, in this moment, on this ordinary yet completely unrepeatable day.
