What is Holistic Pelvic Care Physical Therapy?
Holistic Pelvic Care™ is a technique designed to restore physical, emotional, and energetic imbalances rooted in the pelvic bowl. Holistic Pelvic Care™ helps re-balance and restore the pelvic musculature and refresh circulation to the pelvic bowl through gentle internal work and self-care education.
This work addresses postpartum symptoms, birth trauma, pelvic pain, urinary leakage or incontinence, fertility, pregnancy loss, sexual, physical, or emotional abuse history, and sexual health. This care also supports alignment and function of the ovaries and uterus, and revitalizes creative potential.
Holistic Pelvic Care™ was created by Tami Kent, a women’s health physical therapist who created a gentle and effective way to physically, emotionally and energetically support and restore balance in the pelvis.
Holistic Pelvic Care incorporates Mayan abdominal massage, Chi Nei Tsang (Chinese Internal Organ Massage), and Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, restoring the body to it's natural balance with optimal positioning of the womb and surrounding organs, thus supporting the flow of blood, lymph, nerve and chi energy.
This brings health and restoration on the physical level, treating menstrual imbalances, infertility, reproductive health challenges, digestive issues, and pain, while also supporting health on the emotional and energetic levels. This work can be especially supportive when healing from pregnancy loss, abortion, stillbirth and birth trauma.
The pelvic floor is connected with the root chakra of the body. A strong root is equated with a strong foundation in the world providing for more- centered, joy-filled, vibrant life. This process is for all women in all stages of her life.

What is a Holistic Pelvic Care PT session like?
In the first session: We begin with a thorough review of the woman’s intake form to develop an understanding of what the woman wishes to address during the session.
There will also be time to review the female anatomy, musculature, and nerve supply to ensure understanding of the pelvic floor and potential causes for pelvic symptoms.
After understanding the intention and vision for healing we will do a body scan on the table order to improve body awareness, stress awareness, and relaxation.
Depending on the woman’s history and needs we will either begin externally over clothing or perform an assessment of a woman’s pelvic muscles inter-vaginally. A session is ALWAYS guided by a woman’s autonomy and feelings of comfort and safety.
Using breath work, guided imagery and gentle release of tension patterns held within the pelvic musculature, this care aids in strengthening core muscles, improving sensation, and supporting a renewed sense of self. Customized and doable self-care work will be given to the client before end of session along with a small gift from me in order to assist with healing.
In our first session your specific womb and pelvic concerns will be evaluated and an average treatment plan of 2-8 sessions may be recommended. Initial sessions are 1.5 hr and follow up visits will be 1 hour
Why We Do Not Take Insurance
In-network insurance reimbursement requires Miriam to work within a medical model of illness and diagnose, with time and care limitations. Miriam could not be the therapist that I she is today—with the time and flexibility to work with my clients in holistic ways—if she were to rely on insurance reimbursement.
If your insurance covers Physical therapy we are happy to provide a coded invoice to submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement (this is not a guarantee of payment).
