The Gift of Anger

 What gorgeous Spring days we have been having!  The flowers are blooming, the birds are chirping, and the sun is shining - what more could we ask for?…. How about…anger!??

ANGER?!!?! Yup, I have been feeling it. How about you?

Anger gets a bad rap in our culture, we're not really supposed to feel it. But anger is an important signal from our emotional body that lets us know that we or someone we care about's boundaries, ethics, or world views have been violated. 

Anger burst forth to give us the energy and creativity to find effective actions to right the wrong. 

Now, I'm not suggesting we go around beating people up who anger us, but it's important to recognize that when anger is channeled appropriately, it holds power and purpose much like the uprising energy of bursting spring flowers. 

Anger can act as a catalyst for change, propelling us to stand up for what's right and restore balance in areas where it has been disturbed. When we take responsibility, understand, and channel our anger in constructive ways, we tap into its potent uprising energy, using it to fuel our creativity and overcome obstacles that come our way.

So how can we do what Oprah says and see the gift in anger to awaken turret and ignite positive change? Here are 3 ideas:

1. Self-Reflection and Accountability: Taking responsibility for our anger means acknowledging our emotions without placing blame on others. It involves recognizing our triggers, patterns, and underlying issues that contribute to our anger. By engaging in self-reflection, we can better understand the root causes of our anger and take accountability for our reactions.

2. Embracing Understanding and Empathy: To understand our anger, we must cultivate empathy, both towards ourselves and others. By practicing empathy, we can recognize that anger is often a response to unmet needs, hurt, or injustice. This understanding allows us to approach our anger with compassion and seek constructive solutions rather than lashing out.

3. Creative Expression and Constructive Action: Rather than letting anger consume us, we can channel its potent energy into creative outlets and constructive action. Engaging in activities such as writing, painting, or playing music allows us to express and release our anger in healthy ways. Additionally, we can use our anger as a driving force to overcome obstacles, fueling our determination to find solutions and create positive change.

Remember, when we take responsibility, understand, and channel our anger appropriately, we tap into its powerful energy and transform it into a catalyst for creativity and personal growth.
