Dr. Miriam Bouve

Holistic PT, Doctor of Physical Therapy, Women’s Health Coach, Yoga Teacher

I don’t want to just take away your pelvic pain and discomfort, I want you to understand and befriend your female body in or to find joy, connection, pleasure and power again.

I began my career as a pelvic physical therapist working in a local hospital setting, seeing wonderful results. However, I began to see the female body and the pelvic bowl as so much more than physical structures alone. I couldn’t help but notice emotions (often shame) and energies held in the pelvis that we’re begging to be listened to and understood; that when tapped into lead to profound healing. I now combine years of pelvic physical therapy and somatic work along with Holistic Pelvic Care™ in order to restore physical, emotional, and energetic imbalances rooted in the pelvic bowl. Together, we re-balance and restore the pelvic musculature and refresh circulation to the pelvic bowl through gentle internal and external work, careful listening, embodiment and self-care education.

Through this work we are able to address postpartum symptoms, birth trauma, pelvic pain, urinary leakage, urgency or incontinence, fertility, pregnancy loss, abortion, sexual, physical, or emotional abuse history, and sexual health.  It is important to me that you don’t feel you need to leave any part of yourself at the door when working with me.

My mission is to help women develop a new relationship with their female body, menstrual cycle and pelvic functions. All things we have been taught to shame. Through my work I hope to empower women to care for themselves in a nourishing and respectful manner leading to greater joy, creativity, pleasure, and power in your feminine being.

Miriam received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Temple University and bachelors in Kinesiology from The University of Michigan. Following graduate school, she received addition training in pelvic health and many other advanced body-work trainings. In addition, she is a trained yoga teacher and Women's Health Coach.
