Triple Warmer 1- Rushing the Frontier Gate - Balancing Boundaries

Hi everyone!

In Acupuncture there are 10 meridians connected to the organ systems (Heart, Small Intestine, Bladder, Kidney, Gallbladder, Liver, Lung, Large Intestine, Stomach, and Spleen) and 2 connected to functions in the body, the Heart Protector, and Triple Warmer (aka Triple Energizer, Sanjiao, or Three Heater).

On a physical level, The Triple Warmer meridian is responsible for circulating qi (energy), blood, fluids, and hormones throughout the body. Here we use the channel to help circulation and movement.

But the Triple Warmer channel is also extremely helpful in our social and emotional relationships. Its like the host of a party, who is making sure everyone has what they need, are comfortable with one another, and are having a fantastic time.

In the treatment room I use this point when my patient is feeling either extremely sensitive, overly shy, withdrawn, and vulnerable in their life or if there is upset from too much connection, pushing past their boundaries, and ‘wearing their heart on their sleeve’.

This is also a great point to bring energetic boundary strength to holistic practitioners, doctors, and psychotherapists who tend to “pickup” their patient’s upsets.

Rushing the Frontier Gate  Jing Well, entry point, and metal point on the Triple Warmer Channel.

Emotional/Mental

  • eases the feeling of ‘wearing our heart on our sleeve’ or ‘cold hearted’.

  • helps to coordinate thoughts and feelings

  • helps articulation

  • helps when we are feeling too vulnerable

Bladder 37 (42)- Po (Soul) Door - Unlocking Spiritual Freedom

Hi everyone!

Each of the five elements is connected to a spiritual quality. The Metal Element (Fall time energy) is associated with the ‘Po’ or Corporeal Soul aka the tangible consciousness and primal urges, while the Wood Element (Spring time energy) is connected to the ‘Hun’ or the Ethereal Soul aka formless consciousness .

The Po is the part of the soul that makes us human, incarnate. It receives essential worth and lets go of what no longer serves us. In Taoist Philosophy, after death, the Hun travels with the spirit and the Po remains with the body to decompose and provide nourishment for the future.

I also think of the Po as influencing our legacy, our earthly imprint. It is the facet of soul that leaves a mark in time and space. On the highest level we can ask “What am I doing today that will positively influence the next 7 generations?”

In the treatment room, I use this powerful point when my patient has a feeling of being trapped or a feeling of disconnection with their deeper self. Po Door invokes the spiritual freedom that comes when we realize just how precious life is. This freedom brings deeper connection to self, life, and others. It promotes a contagious lightness of being.

  • resolves feeling trapped in a pattern of thought and feeling.

  • opens the door to the deeper essence of Self

  • helps to revive the Spirit

  • restores essence when there is a feeling of giving up

Hi everyone! Today i want to share an amazing point, that I recently used in an acupuncture treatment focused primarily on Spiritual level healing! The patient was feeling a sense of low self-worth, depression and disconnection from purpose. After the treatment the patient reported feeling more like themselves, a reconnection with their mission.

Heart 8 - Lesser Palace - #recharge

Heart 8 - Lesser Palace is the fire element point on the fire element channel.

This point is a palace, a retreat space, where our heart can receive deep care, rest and revitalization. When our heart center feels completely drained, this beautiful point can help to recharge and return our vitality. It can temporarily free us of the burdens we carry to give us space to restore our life force.

Lesser Palace is an embodied reminder of the abundance and innocent joy of the heart.

Liver 14 -Gate of Hope - An Acupuncture Point for Possibility & Perspective

One of my favorite Acupuncture points is known as Gate of Hope. It's holds the spirit of renewal, hope & possibility. Where is this gate on your body, you wonder? On the belly just under the diaphragm!

gate of hope acupuncture point

Gate of Hope is the last point on the Liver Meridian. If this gate is shut, you will be unable to lift your eyes towards the future with optimism. Resignation falls away when this gate is open! I use it for many reasons including, depression, distention and pain of the middle torso, hiccups, and reflux. But I most often use it on the level of spirit. When we are feeling utterly hopeless, frustrated or stuck in cynicism and negativity, we must open the Gate of Hope. It's the antidote to "I give up...". We can feel a powerful surge of hope with new perspective when we're stuck in a narrow-minded outlook.

HEART 9 - Little Rushing In - Rekindle Joy & Foster Life Direction

This Acupressure series will include acupressure points that you can stimulate yourself. It’s well known that acupuncture can help with physical pain but 75% of my patients come to see me for mental, emotional, and spiritual pain. Stress, anxiety, depression and nervous system overwhelm run rampant in our day and age. Stimulating simple acupuncture points can provide a mysteriously powerful bout of relief.

Thank you to Sheila Z. my hand model!

The Point: Heart 9 - Little Rushing In

On the level of our experience, the equivalent is bringing  the qualities of vision and clarity to our heart’s mission. This point helps to rekindle joy and foster warmth and lightness in us. In addition Little Rushing in reminds us of trust -  it brings a feeling of safety and ease as you would experience around a campfire at night.  (read more about the specific qualities of the elements in Lance's Five Element ebook)

Indications: Feeling of sadness, directionless-ness, emotional and physical exhaustion, or    depression. Also used for delirium, seizures, stroke, loss of consciousness, heart palpitations  - however if any of these symptom are present please call 911 or seek medical attention asap.

How to activate these acupressure points:

  1. Focus your attention on the point

  2. Using your finger or eraser end of a pencil, slowly apply pressure to the point

  3. Slowly increase your pressure on the point and add movement

  4. Stimulate the point anywhere from 30 seconds to 3 minutes

  5. You can do this as needed or try daily for 1 week as an experiment

  6. Notice how you feel

How acupuncture points work to help with depression

One way to think about acupuncture is that it stimulates the electric flow (Qi energy) of the body. Qi flows in circuits in the body we call meridians. The Qi pools up in certain places along the meridians - these little whirlpools we call acupuncture points and each have a unique function. The needles or pressure stimulate these points and help to create movement, bring balance to our entire system, and also remind us of our innate gifts.

Kidney 2 - Blazing Valley - Warmth & Connection

There is an AMAZING point on the inside of our foot called "Blazing Valley" (Kidney 2) which really captures these qualities. Blazing Valley is the fire point within the winter channel (Kidney) and it brings warmth and connection to the cold. Heres a pic just incase you want to give it a little rub =)

This beautiful point brings warmth to cold/contraction and can be used to also clear excess heat in the body.

On the physical level Blazing Valley can help treat symptoms like, insomnia, night sweats, sore throat, dryness, asthma, itching, coldness, and can help a lot with fertility. (for both men and women!)

On the emotional level this point helps to ease fright, anxiety, and nervousness. It can help someone "frozen in fear" or unable to experience joy.

On the highest level Blazing Valley can help us if we are feeling isolated and disconnected. This point powerfully reminds us of the qualities of warmth, love, trust, closeness, comfort, security, and relaxation.

Pretty Amazing right!? And now that you know this point, try massaging it when you are feeling a little down in the dumps, disconnected, or need a little Summer in your Winter =)!

Thanks so much for reading! Have a fantastic moment!

Love,

Lance
